Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? We've got answers! Whether it's your first visit or you're a returning client, here are some of the most common questions we get at Pampered Paws Salon.

Is coloring safe for my pet?

Yes! We only use pet-safe, non-toxic dyes made specifically for animals. These products are gentle, free of harsh chemicals, and safe for your pet’s skin and coat. Coloring is always optional and only applied if your pet is comfortable.

What is hand stripping?

Hand stripping is a grooming method for wire-haired breeds like Terriers and Schnauzers. Instead of clipping, we gently remove dead hairs by hand to maintain the coat’s natural texture, color, and health.

How often should my pet be groomed?

It depends on your pet’s breed, coat type, and lifestyle, but most dogs benefit from grooming every 4–8 weeks. Regular grooming keeps their coat healthy, prevents matting, and builds a positive routine.

Do you trim nails?

Absolutely! Nail trimming is included with every grooming session. Keeping nails short helps with your pet’s comfort, posture, and joint health.

What if my pet is nervous or anxious during grooming?

We specialize in gentle, patient handling. Our groomers take extra time with anxious pets and use positive techniques to help them feel safe. If breaks are needed, we adjust the session to reduce stress.

How long does grooming take?

It depends on your pet’s size, coat condition, behavior, and services requested. We ask 2-4 hours as a general time window. Small pets may take 1–2 hours, while larger or more detailed grooms may take longer. We’ll give you a time estimate at drop-off.

Do you groom cats as well as dogs?

Yes! We provide grooming for both cats and dogs. Cat grooming requires a calm approach, and our team is experienced in making it smooth and stress-free.

What should I do before my grooming appointment?

Make sure your pet has had a potty break and a light meal ahead of time. If your pet has any special needs or health concerns, please let us know at check-in so we can tailor their experience.
